What Is Dabbing CBD and Can It Get You High?

CBD is consumed in many different forms. Traditionally, hemp flower was smoked, but today, consumers across the country can choose from CBD tinctures, oils, edibles, vapes, and a variety of different concentrates.

Concentrates, as the name suggests, are CBD oil that is further processed. These dabs, or concentrates, come in a variety of different formulations, from semi-soft CBD wax through to hard CBD shatter. Other formulations include CBD live resin, sugar wax, and sauce and diamonds.

The concentration process of CBD oil helps add to the levels of terpenes and cannabinoids in the dab. However, to be federally legal, these products cannot be sold unless they have 0.3% THC or less.

What is Dabbing?

Dabbing is done using a special device known as a dabbing rig. There are many different styles of dab rigs, from straws to more ornate rigs and even electronic systems. They are similar in style to a bong, but rather than a bowl to place flower there is a component known as a nail.

The nail is heated with a torch or through an electronic control to a very high heat. A small amount of the dab (CBD concentrate) is placed on the superheated nail and instantly vaporizes, producing a pure vapor that is inhaled.

The purity of the vapor from dabbing provides faster effects of CBD in the body. As CBD only contains 0.3% hemp-derived THC by law, dabbing CBD will not get you high. However, depending on the specific concentrate cannabinoids, users may feel mild euphoria and a calmer mind and experience better sleep.
