Through various areas of legalization, the last few years have seen an increase in Delta-8 hemp which has become a popular product on the market. Although Delta-8 is not actually a new product, it has been researched as a cannabinoid in the hemp plant for decades. Even more recently, Delta-9 hemp has become another hot product within the cannabinoid market, as it offers a slightly different user experience.

What is Delta-9 Hemp?

Delta-9 THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the active ingredient in cannabis. The hemp plant is in the cannabis family, and it offers a lower THC (Delta-9) level than plants grown as recreational or medical marijuana.

Delta-9 hemp is THC extracted from legal hemp plants. To comply with the regulations outlined in the 2018 Farm Bill, the Delta-9 THC levels in any plant used in production must be less than 0.3%.

Considerations for Using Delta-9 Hemp Products

While Delta-9 is legal, it is a form of THC. This means that those using any products that contain 0.3% Delta-9 need to be aware this may show up on a drug test. As with any CBD product, the amount consumed will increase the potential levels of THC in the individual, impacting the possibility of a THC indication on a standard drug screening test.
